‘Listen to the Music’ foi lançada em Setembro de 1972 e foi escrita por Tom Johnston. Foi o primeiro grande hit do The Doobie Brothers. Um mês após o lançamento, a música chegou ao No. 11 na Billboard Hot 100.
Tom Johnston, disse que escreveu o single em apelo à paz mundial. “A ideia era que a música elevaria o homem a um plano superior, e que os líderes mundiais, pudessem se sentar em algum lugar e ouvissem a música, basicamente, a música faria tudo melhorar.”
